The adventures ... Stiby Backe, part 3
After wandering around quite aimlessly on Stiby Backe and looked for something that I did not know what looked like ... I went to the library in Sölvesborg, and asked if they had anything about cholera cemeteries in general and Stibys in particular.
Oh yes! Strong by studying their old paper over Stiby cholera cemeterie ... it would be bad if I would not find the location. What I was looking for was in fact - simply! - a fenced (with stone wall) "paddock", and it was much bigger than I thought ... throughout 42 x 31 meters.
I am a bit lazy, so the first thought was to make another attempt to attack the target down from Hällevik (is actually quite long to walk from Tallparken), and believe it or not, I found an entrance beside a farm. The problem was that there was no gate, ther was only stairs over the stone wall. Hm, did I not like ... and sat in the car for a moment and pondered how I would do.
The wind howled and shook in my car, and I started to realize that this was a really bad idea. Do not know whitch was worst, the stairs over the stone wall or a certainly five hundred meter walk across an open landscape in strong winds.
"Here I should have a picture of the gate and the scenery ...
but I have not (maybe another day )..."
Thought for the pros and cons, but when a branch blew down from the tree next to the car, I thinking enough. It had to be the long round at the edge of the forest...
"Take 90 degrees to the left at this juniper bush ...
to get to the edge of the forest !"
"This old oak tree makes me think of a family tree ..."
"Backsippor... forbidden to picking all over Sweden (I think!) "
A large gate slammed behind my back, just like it was meant to do... but what I never realized was that it was an iron on the side of the damn gate (I can understand why it was sitting there). I don´t see it ... but I felt when it hit me on the inside of the knee, I promise.
How the hell I managed to be hit on the inside of the knee, I have not understood yet. But I got a huge bruise where ...
"Cholera Cemetery is 42 x31 meter ...
and the wall is about 1.5 meters wide and 1 meter high."
"Over the SE wall is a staircase ... flanked by two stones."
A memorial raised in 1953 with the text:
Här vilar offren
för koleran 1853
Kommunen reste
vården 1953
"Here are ten of 0.15 x 0.45 centimeters high,
raised stones in two pairs international lines ..."
"The SSV wall has been a now blocked two meters wide entrance..."
For some strange reason I came to think of some old TV game, when I followed the stone walls (to avoid the worst of the wind).
Lots of shrubs and rice growing along the walls, so I did not see what was on the other side of the wall ... but had to wait for the gate holes.
"Out here, in there ... In here, out there ... and level up!",
I hummed over and over to myself. Crazy, I know ... I've never even liked to play TV games ...
